- The Income-tax Act, 2025 pages on incometaxindia.gov.in (sections 19, 156, 202, 392) returned an access error (403) to automated fetches. Section 202 and its rates were read in the Finance Bill 2026 memorandum. Section 156 (rebate, with the Rs 60,000 limit and the marginal relief rule) was read on a third-party copy of the Act. Section 19 (standard deduction) and section 392 (tax deducted from salary) numbers come from third-party explainers and were not read in the Act text.
- The Rs 75,000 standard deduction under the new regime was read in the PIB note on Budget 2025-26. The Finance Bill 2026 memorandum proposes no change in tax rates; a 2026-27 statement of the Rs 75,000 amount in the Act text was not read.
- The Rs 50,000 standard deduction under the old regime, the Rs 2,00,000 limit on self-occupied home loan interest and the 80D limits were not read on an official page for 2026-27 and come from third-party explainers. Only the standard deduction and the 80C, 80CCD(1B) and home loan interest caps are applied; any other old regime deduction or exemption is a single amount you enter.
- The old regime section numbers under the Income-tax Act, 2025 (for 80C, 80CCD, 80D and 24(b)) were not checked, so the guides use the familiar names of the earlier Act for them.
- Whether the Rs 25,000 EPF wage ceiling has been notified in the EPFO scheme text was not read; the PIB release of 16 September 2026 states the decision and the date. The 12% rate is read in a 2023 Ministry of Labour note.
- Employer TDS on salary is worked out each month from the employee's estimated yearly tax. The calculator spreads the yearly tax evenly over 12 months, so the monthly in-hand figure is an average, not a payslip line.
- Rounding of total income and tax to the nearest Rs 10 (sections 288A and 288B of the earlier Act) is not applied. Tax, surcharge and cess are rounded to the nearest rupee.
- Professional tax is set by each state (a few states charge none) and is not deducted. Typical state amounts were not verified.
- CTC structures differ. The calculator takes CTC as the fixed yearly pay that includes the employer EPF, and treats the rest as taxable salary. Gratuity, insurance, variable pay, joining bonuses and perquisites are not modelled.
- HRA exemption, LTA and other allowances are not computed. For the old regime, enter what you can claim as a single amount.
- Employer contribution to NPS (80CCD(2)), meal vouchers and other new regime allowances are not modelled.
- Special-rate income (capital gains, dividend), residents over 60, non-residents and the 'tax year' versus 'previous year' wording for the old Act are not modelled.
