About

Go Home Early New Zealand is a small set of free calculators for employees: take-home pay after PAYE, the ACC earners' levy, KiwiSaver and a student loan. It is an independent project. It is not run by, endorsed by or connected with Inland Revenue (IRD) or ACC.

Why this exists

Pay calculators often give no source for their numbers. This site publishes the rates it uses, where each came from and the date it was last checked, so you can compare a result with the official page.

Rates come from the source

Tax rates, the PAYE method, KiwiSaver rates, the student loan threshold, the independent earner tax credit and the ACC earners' levy come from Inland Revenue and ACC pages and from the IR340 PAYE tables. The Sources and rates page lists each value, where it came from and the date it was last checked.

Checked against the official table

The calculation is tested against every whole-dollar weekly amount from NZ$1 to NZ$3,846 in the IRD weekly PAYE table for April 2026 (PAYE codes M and ME, the student loan column and the five KiwiSaver columns), and against a second implementation written separately. The site is not released with a failing test.

Updates

Most rates change on 1 April. When they do, the values and the checked dates are updated together. If you find an error, tell us.
