End-of-service gratuity after 5 years in the UAE (basic wage AED 10,000)
After 5 years of service on a basic wage of AED 10,000 a month, the end-of-service gratuity for a full-time foreign worker in the UAE private sector is AED 35,000. That is 105 days of basic wage at AED 333.33 a day, or 3.5 months of basic wage.
5 years is the last year paid at 21 days: 5 x 21 = 105 days of wage. Every year after the fifth earns 30 days.
One more year of service (6 years) would add AED 10,000 to the gratuity on a basic wage of AED 10,000, taking it to AED 45,000. A year at the 30 day rate is 1 month of basic wage.
The cap of 2 years of basic wage (AED 240,000 on AED 10,000) is not reached: this gratuity is 14.58% of it. The cap is reached after 25.5 years of service.
