Kenya take-home pay calculator, 2026

Monthly net pay after PAYE, NSSF, SHIF and the Housing Levy, from the official figures for 2026.

12 equal monthly payments of gross salary and no allowance or bonus are assumed. The employee NSSF, SHIF and Housing Levy come off first, the PAYE bands are applied to what is left, and the personal relief is taken off the tax.

How this is calculated

Four deductions from the monthly pay

Your employer deducts your NSSF, SHIF and Affordable Housing Levy, then withholds PAYE on what is left. The big number above is the pay that reaches the bank account. See the deductions guide and the PAYE bands guide.

NSSF

The employee pays 6% of pay up to the upper earnings limit of KSh 108,000: Tier I on the first KSh 9,000 and Tier II on the rest. The most is KSh 6,480.00 a month.

SHIF

The employee pays 2.75% of gross pay, at least KSh 300 a month. There is no upper limit.

Affordable Housing Levy

The employee pays 1.5% of gross pay. There is no upper limit.

PAYE

Taxable pay is gross pay less the three deductions above. The monthly bands are 10%, 25%, 30%, 32.5%, 35%, starting at KSh 0, KSh 24,000, KSh 32,333, KSh 500,000, KSh 800,000 of taxable pay. The tax is then reduced by the personal relief of KSh 2,400 a month and cannot go below nil.

Not included

Allowances, benefits in kind, bonuses, overtime, insurance relief, pension or mortgage-interest deductions and other income. Results can differ from your payslip.
