About

Go Home Early Ireland is a free take-home pay calculator for employees in Ireland. It is an independent project. It is not run by, endorsed by or connected with Revenue, the Department of Social Protection or any government body.

Why this exists

Pay calculators often give different numbers for the same pay and do not say where the numbers come from. Here every rate is taken from an official page, listed on the Sources and rates page with the date it was checked, and every result is calculated by code that is tested against the worked examples Revenue publishes.

Rates come from the source

Income tax rate bands and tax credits come from Revenue's tax rates, bands and reliefs charts. USC rates and thresholds come from Revenue's USC pages. PRSI rates come from the Department of Social Protection's Class A table, including the change on 1 October 2026. Anything that could not be confirmed on an official page is listed on the Sources page and is not used as a rate.

Checked against official examples

The calculations are tested against the USC and income tax examples on Revenue's website and against a second, independent implementation. The site is not released with a failing test.

Updates

Rates are reviewed when Revenue or the Department of Social Protection change them, which is usually with the Budget in October and for some rates mid-year. When they change, the values and the checked dates are updated together. If you find an error, tell us.
